Free online therapy course launched to help New Zealanders experiencing panic
We are continuing to provide free mental health support for all New Zealanders with the launch of two new courses, Overcoming Panic and Overcoming Panic β Next Steps.
Using gold-standard Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) these courses are designed to help the 1 in 4 New Zealanders experiencing anxiety and panic attacks, delivered through an easy-to-use online platform. Learners are able to take the course at their own pace, either self-directed, or prescribed by their healthcare provider.
Panic and panic attacks can be debilitating for those who experience them. "While a small amount of anxiety is normal and even helpful to us, it can become a problem when we experience more of it than we need to, in a way that stops us living a full and meaningful life,β says Anna Elders, Clinical Lead for Just a Thought.
βThe good news is that panic can be managed. Our courses teach the same skills as you would learn in face-to-face therapy, but can be taken at home, at your own pace, in your own time.β
Using an evidence-based model of CBT specifically designed to treat panic, the courses aim to empower individuals with the knowledge, skills, and strategies to effectively manage and overcome this challenging condition.
Developed by clinicians and researchers, Just a Thought offers free online CBT courses for anyone experiencing low mood, anxiety, stress and other mental health challenges.
Over 50,000 New Zealanders are already using Just a Thought to support their mental wellbeing. All courses are free, based on proven and effective cognitive behavioural therapy, and are accessible online.
